Naturopaths are holistic health care practitioners who have a focus on improving the health of people. Naturopaths focus on preventing conditions and symptoms, managing and reducing symptoms, healing with foods, lifestyle changes, natural herbs and nutrients, whilst always ensuring that the WHOLE person is looked at and the root cause is addressed. For example rather than simply prescribing an iron tablet for iron deficiency anaemia a naturopath may look further into why you're not absorbing iron, digestive system function, whether there are any underlying conditions, and how we can boost your dietary sources of iron, rather than only prescribing a supplement. Naturopaths aim to improve wellness and consider all contributing aspects such as your diet, lifestyle, stress levels, work, nutritional inadequacies, medical conditions, gut health, emotional health and more.

Initial consults consist of 45-50minutes of comprehensive questioning surrounding your presenting symptoms and conditions, diet and a whole system analysis to best understand what is contributing to your health. Physical examinations may be conducted, such as blood pressure, pulse, nail, tongue and iris analysis. The remaining 10-15 minutes will involve Monique discussing with you her understanding of your health, dietary and lifestyle recommendations, as well as her suggestions for herbal and nutritional supplements.
Return consults are to check in regarding your prescription and symptom management. Return consults are 30-60 minutes in duration and involve checking in and obtaining further case information to aid treatment. The time frame between appointments will depend on your presenting symptoms, but may be fortnightly or monthly to begin with, with reducing frequency as you begin to see improvements.
-
Monique may recommend blood tests to be performed at your local medical clinic to assist in providing additional information regarding your presenting symptoms and conditions that will aid in improving Monique's understanding of your health status.
If relevant comprehensive hormone, thyroid, stool and digestive testing can also be ordered privately for an additional cost through Nutripath and Co-Biome.

As a naturopath I aim to work alongside your other medical and health practitioners and will never step out of my scope of practice. I aim to work in conjunction with your general practitioner and other specialists and will always communicate my treatment plans to these practitioners when necessary. Pharmaceutical medications are required for various health conditions and I will always check for herbal and nutritional interactions to ensure my treatment plan is safe alongside your current medications. I will recommend speaking with your prescribing doctor or specialist, regarding making any changes to your pharmaceutical medication dosages and prescriptions.

Unfortunately in our current health system there are no medicare or private health rebates available for naturopathy.
If cost is a limiting factor you are welcome to enquire and Monique can speak with you about some potential ways to make her services available to you.
